This seems so long ago, so many things have happened since Blake give me the most amazing surprise of my life and asked me to marry him.
Now when I say amazing, I mean AMAZING! In his words he "couldn't do something lame" so in his mind that meant helicopter, snow covered mountain peak and of course the most beautiful ring I've ever seen (which I no longer have *sniff*). Anyway, on February 26, 2008 it was just another lame day at work for me when Blake texted me and asked if I wanted to go to Park City with him. We'd gone the week before and spent the day shopping at the outlet malls, and I'd carelessly left a bag of clothes at another store so I just assumed that we were going to get the bag.
I guess the first thing that should have clued me in is that we went the long way to Park City through Provo Canyon, but of course I'm sort of oblivious so I didn't think twice. On our way up there Blake's mom called and asked if we could stop by the Heber Airport and ask if they had any "special regulations" for landing there. This should have been the second clue, now that I look back I really do feel pretty stupid but oh well.
When we got to the airport we asked the lady working there about the "special regulations", she looked at me like I had asked the stupidest question ever (which I had), and she just said, "No, I think you just...land". Well question answered, right? Time to go and stop by the animal shelter that was next door, but for some reason Blake was stalling. I thought it was because I am obsessed with any dog, cat or other helpless creature that is in need of some love, and Blake gets really tired of me asking if I can take all of them home. Blake is walking around like he is looking for something, and then he asks me if we can go out onto the airstrip where all the airplanes are. I thought he was crazy, after all neither of us were really all that into airplanes, and it was like 3 degrees outside, but of course I grudgingly went outside with him.
As we walk out onto the airstrip, we see a random guy with a helicopter. He comes up to us and tells us that he is going to shoot some pictures for his website and asks if we want to come along. I looked at Blake like, is this guy for real, and without a second thought he just says yes! Being the trusting girlfriend that I was, I just went along with it, the whole time hoping that this guy wasn't some psychopath.
We flew around for a few minutes before we landed on a flat, windblown mountain peak right above the town of Walsburg, and right behind Mount Timpanogos. Of course I'm freaking out at this point (although not because I thought that Blake was going to propose, I'd never even been on an airplane, pathetic I know) and I'm totally ignoring Blake just texting my friend about how random the whole thing was. Finally after several attempts to get my attention Blake just says, "Kristine, do you know the REAL reason we're up here?" At that point it hit me like a ton of bricks and I turned to him in shock and said the first thing that came to my mind..."NO!!" Luckily Blake is smart enough to know that I don't mean a lot of things that I say so he got down on one knee (in the snow) and asked me to marry him.
I am so grateful for my amazing husband, and even though we have been married for over two years now he continues to surprise me with how thoughtful and sweet he is. I love him more than anything and I am so thankful that I get to spend eternity with him. He is the perfect match for me and I love him more than anything!
